What surgeries are performed at your hospital?

Our hospital is fully capable of performing routine and advanced procedures. Our surgical suite is equipped with modern technology that allows us to keep your pet safe during all procedures. The following are some operations we regularly perform at our hospital:

  • Spays and neuters
  • Foreign object removal
  • Dental surgeries
  • Bladder stone removal
  • Skin lacerations or wound repair

How is my pet cared for during surgery?

Our surgical protocols aim to keep every patient safe and comfortable during procedures. Firstly, we perform pre-surgery blood tests to detect any health problems. With blood tests we can predict any complications that may arise during the procedure and determine how well your pet is going to respond to surgery. To prevent any discomfort or pain we administer anesthesia to your pet. This puts them to sleep while our team performs the procedure. When your pet is under we monitor their heart rate, temperature and oxygen levels. These vital signs tell us how well your pet’s body is functioning. Our staff works carefully and follows advanced techniques to perform the surgery successfully.

What happens after surgery?

Once the surgery is complete, we monitor your pet as they wake up from anesthesia. As the anesthesia wears off your pet will begin to feel the effects of surgery which is why we prescribe medication for pain management. We provide specific instructions about when to administer different doses of the medicine. Based on your pet’s surgery we’ll provide recommendations such as discouraging them from playing or scratching their incision as it can prolong recovery. We schedule follow-up consultations to ensure your pet heals correctly from the surgery. To speak with our team about your pet’s recovery, we encourage you to call us at 416-463-8387.
