Stephen Avery

Steve graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004 and after working at other animal hospitals in the city decided to open his own veterinary hospital. In 2007, together with his wife, he opened Leslieville Animal Hospital. Steve’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and dentistry. When not working he caters to his cat Norm and his dog Ivy and busily chases after his four young children.

Charlotte Kuk

Charlotte graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2014 where she started her career practicing small animal medicine in a small town North of Toronto. She joined Leslieville Animal Hospital in September 2016. Having been born and raised in Toronto, Charlotte is thrilled to move back to her home city! Her special interests include dentistry and anesthesia. Outside of work, Charlotte loves to travel, dance salsa and hit the gym. She has a cat named Romeo who she adopted in veterinary school and has quickly become the apple of her eye.

Carol Hung

Dr. Carol Hung was born and raised in Mississauga. She studied biology and psychology at the University of Toronto, before attending the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. She graduated with honors in 2015, and has worked for busy practices in London and Caledon prior to joining the Leslieville team. Despite being allergic to cats and dogs, she is dedicated to improving their lives! Her professional interests are in dermatology, dentistry, and internal medicine. Outside of work, she loves Zumba, travel, and music.

Erica Sloane

Erica was born and raised in Toronto. Her first job in high school was at a local veterinary hospital where she decided that the work was challenging but rewarding and after that she couldn’t imagine a career in anything other the veterinary field. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2004 with Steve. After spending the past several years at home with her young children she is pleased to have recently joined the team at Leslieville Animal Hospital where she can focus on senior pet health and internal medicine.

Jessica Pagonis, RVT
Practice Manager

Jessica has worked in the animal health field for over 20 years. She started her career as a kennel attendant in high school and in 2003 she graduated from Seneca College as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Jessica joined the Leslieville Animal Hospital family in May of 2015 as the Practice Manager. She shares her home with her husband, two young boys and their two dogs Beatriz and Helga.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Katie joined the Leslieville Animal Hospital team in May 2010 as our first
Registered Veterinary Technician after graduating from Seneca College.
Katie loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, and is spearheading the
Weight Loss Program at Leslieville Animal Hospital to help those pets in
need of achieving their healthy body weight. She enjoys working with both
cats and dogs and thrives on helping each patient she encounters. In her
off-time she relaxes with friends and family, and of course her pets, Roxie
(cat) and Stanley (dog).

Registered Veterinary Technician

Kathryn has been working professionally with small animals for 6 years since graduating high school. She started off discovering her love for the animal health field as a veterinary assistant. Kathryn has since graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College. She has completed all the steps to become a Registered Veterinary Technician and started working at Leslieville Animal Hospital. Kathryn views the team and the patients as her family, but spends her free time snuggling with her Greater Swiss Mountain dog Bouba. She is hoping to add to her animal family soon. Kathryn looks forward to meeting every patient that walks through our doors and is ready to offer her assistance.

Registered Veterinary Technician

After Kayla graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Guelph, she decided to continue school to become a veterinary technician. Kayla accomplished this in 2016 when she graduated with honours from the University of Guelph – Ridgetown Campus. She became registered in the same year. Although she loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a soft spot for surgery, especially dental procedures. When she’s not at the clinic, she can be found cooking, playing board games, and hanging out with her 3 fur babies (dog Ricky, and rabbits Bucket and Nova).

Veterinary Technician

Sam joined Leslieville Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician in February 2015. she came to us with over ten years experience working in diverse environments. In her spare time, Sam enjoys reading, hanging out with her bird Ruby and catching up on Coronation Street!

Client Care

Natasha came to Leslieville Animal Hospital in the summer of 2015. She has been working in the veterinary industry for over 13 years and was excited to join a local team after her recent move to Lesliville. Natasha loves meeting new patients (and old friends too!) but especially enjoys all the new kittens that stop by for the first time. She lives in the area with her fiancee, Monique, their four cats, Marvin, Mack, Nermal and Nero, and their new canine addition to the family – Gypsy!!

Client Care

Christine joined the team in August 2015. From the age of 16, she has held many exciting animal related jobs including working at racetracks with thoroughbred horses and in exotic avian shops. Christine came to us with over two years experience in the veterinary industry. Christine has extra love for our canine patients and can often be found giving them some extra TLC when they are here. She lives in the Beach area with her four parrots, turtle and her giant Dogue de Bordeaux, Hooch. 

Client Care

Jenny joined the Leslieville team in November 2015. She has over 8 years experience working in veterinary clinics, and has both general and emergency veterinary experience. She has a Chihuahua-Jack Russell mix named Kenikie, who absolutely loves sun bathing and two budgies, Thelma and Louise. Jenny enjoys helping the little furry family members when ever she can. When she is not at work, she stays busy spending time with her family.

Client Care

Melody joined Leslieville Animal Hospital in June of 2016. She has 11 years of experience working in animal clinics and loves that no two days are the same. When she is not here helping our furry friends, Melody enjoys DJing, karaoke and spending time with her favorite Old English Bull Dog – Pepper!

Veterinary Assistant

Yvonne recently joined the Leslieville team early 2018. She took in a handful of strays throughout her childhood starting at the young age of 6, which essentially sparked her passion to work in the animal health field. Prior to joining the team, she enjoyed volunteering at clinics as an animal attendant and helping out with an organization called Toronto Cat Rescue. She was involved in administrative work and was trained as a Foster Home Screener, Foster Home Coordinator and as an Adoption Counsellor. She also enjoys organizing adoption events for stray cats and uses her counselling experience to ensure that the cats find their compatible forever homes. Yvonne is in her third year of her Undergrad for Biomedical Science at York University and hopes to become a veterinarian one day.

Veterinary Assistant

After completing the Vet Assistant Program at Seneca
College, Amanda joined the Leslieville Team in May 2018. She plans on
continuing her studies as a Veterinary Technician, but in the mean time
enjoys caring for her cat Oryx and dog Lola. She enjoys music immensely and
attends as many concerts as she can as well as hanging out with her friends
and family.

Veterinary Assistant

Alysha joined the Leslieville Animal Hospital family in August 2018. With five years of experience working with exotic animals, including a rescue and rehabilitation organization in the Indonesian jungle, she is excited to now be learning all the aspects of dog and cat care too. Alysha is an avid traveler and has backpacked through 37 different countries. Playing guitar, hiking and resting in her hammock is where you will find her spending her spare time.
